DESIGN | Gallery Walls

It can be hard to decorate when renting. Things like painting walls, replacing light fixtures, or changing flooring are usually a no for most landlords which can leave some renters feeling like they can’t make their home space truly their own. Whether you have blank walls in your living room, hallway, staircase, or entryway, gallery walls are a great way to add personality to a home without making a huge commitment or doing any heavy lifting.

The best of wall spaces are those built over time and from a variety of different sources so remember to take your time selecting artwork that’s personal, unique, and timeless. Although each piece of artwork is different, gallery walls typically have some sort of theme (same color scheme, shape, medium, etc) so that each piece complements one another.

Because you can collect artwork over time, don’t feel like you can’t start this project because you have a smaller budget to work with. You can always start with 2 or 3 lower price point items (hello Target, HomeGoods, and Ross!) and then mix in some higher priced items at a later time. Here’s a little inspiration to get your creativity flowing.

On a really really tight budget? IKEA has collages available for less than $40 like the set below!
