MONEY TALKS | What Business Should I Start?

Last time, we talked about the importance of entrepreneurship and simple steps to start down that path. Hopefully you’ve done your homework 😊 But if you’re having trouble this article is here to provide a little help.

If you’re still unsure about entrepreneurship here’s a thought… There’s never been a better time to start a business. Yes, you read that right. Despite the fact that some businesses and industries are struggling due to COVID-19 this is still the best time to start a business. This is because you can plan for long term success and do all the things many wish they would have done.

Hindsight is 2020 and the year 2020 has given us all the information we need. Remember, not all business are failing. Many, especially the online businesses, are thriving. Maybe your first idea would have included a nice office space that would cost a few thousand a month, but now we know remote work can be just as effective and cost nothing. In fact, it’s a business deduction for home expenses you would have to pay anyway!

So now that we have that out of the way let’s get started. What are some business ideas? The following are just a few to inspire you, but keep this in mind: The best businesses solve a problem.

  1. A Blog. It works because you’re on one now! To make it simple, a blog is a website that has articles. The amazing thing about a blog is that it can be about anything. Let’s say you have an interest in mechanics or hair but due to COVID you decide opening a physical shop is not the way you want to go. You can make a blog about the topic and the more specific the better. So you wouldn’t just write about mechanics but car mechanics for single women, or not just hair but how to style your child’s hair. Those are just simple examples but you get the idea. Blogs are so much more than writing. You can add videos of you providing hands on instructions of your topic or sell physical products to go along with your topic. How can you make money with a blog? There are many ways including advertisements and selling your own item, whether digital or physical.

  2. Freelance. Another flexible business idea is consulting or freelancing. If you are skilled at something, even if it seems simple, people will pay you for it. Are you good at typing or office work? Virtual assistants are in high demand. Are you good on social media? Social media managers are in high demand. How can you make money freelancing? Check out websites like Upwork or Fiverr to post your skills. Also, advertise for yourself with a simple website or business cards.

  3. Learn something new. The two ideas above are good ways to use the skills you already have to make additional income. But if you’re looking to expand then consider learning something new like coding or Facebook ad marketing. There are many more ideas and options out there and google will easily get you started 😊 Just take some time to see what interests you.

Hopefully, those ideas get your ideas flowing. Also remember that physical businesses are not off limits! During quarantine we still need handymen, food and other services. Covid has just taught us ways to be flexible and adaptable. Home work is due next week! Can’t wait to learn about your ideas then we’ll go to the next steps. You got this!

Until Next Time,

Crystal
