New Look, New Me? – Part I

After reading this older article by Megan O’ Rourke in the nail salon, the urge to revamp my overstuffed, but somehow incomplete wardrobe became too much to ignore. It got me thinking about how my dress defines me. So far the confident, successful, and refined, but still flirty and sexy person I’m envisioning isn’t doing such a great job of reflecting that persona with my current wardrobe. And what about you moms out there who have lost the sense of the person you were pre-baby? While many of us can’t afford to have someone come in and revamp our wardrobes for us, we can still dress like the women we want to be by doing the following…

  1. Redefine yourself through your wardrobe with these intentions: – Dress for the future you want – Dress for the person you want to be – Dress considering how you’d like to be perceived

  2. Embrace the feelings that come with getting rid of pieces that hold sentimental value, but be honest with yourself about how often you’ll actually use them. Do they help accomplish those three intentions above? No? Then out they go!

  3. Separating the Goods: Toss – The Damaged Donate – Clothes that don’t reflect the person you want to be/pieces that are unflattering Tailor – Quality pieces that will get lots of use

What is the hardest piece to get rid of in your closet?
