Touring NY | Billy Johnson Playground

Nestled inside Central Park near E 67th Street and 5th Ave is a playground you and your kids won’t want to miss. Designed with the landscape of Central Park in mind, landscape architect M. Paul Friedberg created this rustic escape for children with a miniature Gapstow Bridge, granite slides, wooden play-frames, trails, two tire swings, infant swings, a water play area for when the weather gets warmer, and an atmosphere that inspires children to get in touch with nature.

The playground seating design is also well thought out, with numerous wooden benches sheltered by beams overhead that help provide shade, an appealing aesthetic, and yet allow for a full view of the playground.

If you’re looking for the perfect playground for your kiddo to visit in winter, summer, spring, or fall… this spot won’t disappoint!
